So the focus of this blog is meant to be citizen science outdoors, in the field- hence the slogan “get outside, get data!” But sometimes outside is not an option. Say you are waiting in line at the DMV or have a really long layover, do not despair citizen scientist! You can still do biology- on your phone!  Check out this cool new app developed in association with Cancer Research U.K. http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/support-us/play-to-cure-genes-in-space.  By playing the game and charting your spaceship’s course in pursuit of element alpha, you are actually helping scientists analyze reams of genetic microarray data from tumors.  You can also read about the app here on Scientific American’s blog.  Go download it for free!
